About the Author
LIAM ROBERTS experienced a mountain-top conversion at a Young Life camp in the Colorado Rockies as a teenager. This single event shaped his life as no other.
Liam’s career began with a degree in Psychology and an MBA. He’s pursued excellence across four different industries and taught college Economics.
Liam has been married for thirty-four years to his lovely wife, Marsha, who blessed him with three incredible children. Their daughter is an accomplished chef at an exclusive restaurant. Their two sons are graduates of the United States Naval Academy. One is a Navy Special Operations Forces, the other a Navy pilot.
“The impetus for this story was spawned from my interest in genealogy,” Liam says, a descendant of thirteen Mayflower passengers . “I have been fascinated with the application of DNA analysis to field of genealogy, particularly the ambitious Genographic Project sponsored by The National Geographic Society.
“A friend asked me if I would draft an explanation of the science of DNA from a biblical perspective. She was intrigued by my idea that the story of the Flood might be written in our DNA and wanted to share it with her home-schooled grandchildren. As I began to write, the story came to life.
“I am also concerned about the threat that Islam represents to civilization. I wove this theme into the story with the hope that my readers will educate themselves further about the oppressive Muslim worldview.
“The reluctant hero is an archetype that interests me. Believers find themselves in a world filled with daily challenges. Most are not endowed with the traits that would be deemed heroic in the traditional sense, but they faithfully respond to their calling and often shun acknowledgment.
“My son said it best in a speech before the Secretary of the Navy and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was speaking of his fallen comrade, a best friend killed in Afghanistan: “Heroes are not people who possess supernatural strength and abilities. Heroes are normal people who make extraordinary decisions every day of their lives.”
Liam Roberts is a pseudonym for practical reasons. Because Liam’s sons will be sent into harm’s way in areas where jihadists are commonly found, Liam was asked to use a pen name. The primary reason is due to the honest representation of radical Islam conveyed in the thriller, which could engender a hostile response from jihadists, given that the family name is somewhat uncommon. On a lighter note, the author has found it advantageous to shamelessly promote his book without it seeming self-serving.
